Client: Private
Location: Outer London
Location: Outer London
Designed in 1938 by Bauhaus School Architect Rudolf Frankel, the house is now listed Grade II. It survived in remarkably original condition but finally required internal and external repairs and adaptations, including new services. The principal change was converting a large garage to a library to hold the client’s collection. Other works included conservation of the original metal windows, matched rebuilding of decaying parapet brickwork, and conserving all the original kitchen. Old photos, a description in a contemporary journal and paint investigation confirmed the original color for metalwork, which was reinstated. Project Architect: Alina Wisnicka
